All About the Product
What size do I need?
Here are some size charts to help you find the right size for your Bookhoover or Booky:
How do I carry my Bookhoover?
You place the Bookhoover on the index finger of the hand you wish to read and write with. The tip points towards the book and the opening of the finger holder points upwards. The finger holder is flexible and available in different sizes.
How do I change or refill the pen unit?
Bookhoover Graphite: The pencil tip can be unscrewed as a unit and replaced with a new one.
Bookhoover Ink: The ballpoint pen refill unit can be unscrewed and fitted with a new refill.
Bookhoover Stylus: Here, only the front tip is replaced after wear. You can do this with the included pliers.
Info: Unfortunately, the different refills cannot be swapped between different Bookhoover variants.
Does the Bookhoover also work for left-handed people?
Yes, the Bookhoover can be worn on both sides.
Tip: From time to time, switch the Bookhoover to your non-dominant hand, read and write with it to challenge and train your brain in new ways.
Can I read with Bookhoover on tablets & e-readers?
Yes, you can read with the Bookhoover in books as well as on e-readers and tablets.
The tip of the Bookhoover acts as a visual guide without activating the tablet's surface, as a finger would.
Which BookHoover version is right for me?
Since all versions of the Bookhoover are suitable for all types of reading written text (classic books, eBooks, printouts), the choice depends on whether or not you need an integrated pen for notes. Choose the pen variant you prefer for taking handwritten notes.
If you tend to take notes in books or want to write on paper, the Bookhoover Graphite with a pencil or Ink with a ballpoint pen is the right choice for you. If you prefer to take notes directly on your digital device/eBook reader* and primarily work digitally, choose the Bookhoover Stylus.
If you don't want to take any notes at all and don't need an integrated pen, choose the Bookhoover Flow.

The Bookhoover with pen is available in three versions:
Bookhoover Graphite: Infinity Pencil
Bookhoover Ink: Ballpoint pen with blue or black refill
Bookhoover Stylus: with digital refill / Stylus (EMR)*

Is the Bookhoover available in other colors?
For now, Bookhoover variants are only available in the specified colors for each variant. In the future, we will offer more colors. Feel free to contact us if you have any ideas or wishes.
Why are there variants without a pen (Flow and Booky)?
Because you wished for it, and now we're fans ourselves.
The Bookhoover Flow is based on your feedback.
As a lightweight reading aid, the Flow is purely for guided reading, actively guiding the eyes through lines of text to benefit from increased focus.
The same applies to the Booky.
Already satisfied users wanted a smaller version as a reading aid for their children. This is where the advantage of guided reading becomes particularly apparent, helping to direct the attention of young readers and making it an enjoyable experience.
Why doesn't every variant have a book clip for hooking?
The Bookhoover Flow is our latest version, incorporating customer feedback. Many of you wanted a book clip, so we've implemented it in this newest iteration. For the pen versions, we haven't included it for now due to ergonomic considerations.
Manufacturing
How is the Bookhoover manufactured?
Everything starts with a 3D model (CAD) as a dataset. We create this on the computer and then send it to our production partner in Saxony.
The Bookhoover is manufactured using innovative 3D printing technology, the Multi-Jet Fusion process. After printing, the blanks are smoothed and colored.
Thanks to this 3D printing technology, we only produce as much as we actually need, which makes this process particularly sustainable. In addition, our special filigree design and the flexible finger holder can be created from a single material.
Subsequently, the 3D printed base bodies are sent back to us in Cologne and assembled by hand with the respective pen units and shipped.
You can find more about our production on the "Our Manufacturing" page.
Where is the Bookhoover manufactured?
The Bookhoover is designed in Cologne and 3D-printed by our manufacturer in Saxony. Assembly and shipping take place at the Bookhoover headquarters in Cologne.
This allows us to keep transport routes short and produce more energy-efficiently.
The 3D printing process used is the Multi Jet Fusion method, which is currently the most sustainable method, as it uses up to 80% recycled material for each print, with only 20% new material needing to be added.
What material is used for 3D printing?
The proven material in 3D printing is polyamide. We use PA12 because it is lightweight yet robust and flexible. It was particularly important to us that the material is biocompatible and skin-friendly.
It is also used in the production of prostheses and generally in the medical field, making it safe.
The 3D printing process allows us to process only the material that is actually used. The rest is recycled back into the next production run and the next print.
On the page "Our Production" you will find more details about our manufacturing process.
